This year's SIFF, running June 13-22, includes 49 films competing for Golden Goblet Awards and more than 400 domestic and international titles screened in 1,500 showings across Shanghai and nearby regions. The festival program features the Belt and Road Film Week, Sci-Fi Film Week and a special section on AI-generated content.

Before the opening gala, over 200 Chinese and international filmmakers, actors and celebrities involved in various film projects walked the red carpet amid a flurry of flashing cameras. Notable attendees included Andy Lau, Zhang Ziyi, Peter Chan, Lei Jiayin, Guan Hu and Da Peng.

Founded in 1993, SIFF has become a leading global film event, underscoring Shanghai's ambition to grow as an international cultural hub. This year's edition will also mark the 130th anniversary of world cinema and the 120th anniversary of Chinese cinema through a special section titled "Resonance: A Brief Encounter of Chinese and World Cinema."
