Dongsheng District lies in central-eastern Ordos, covering 2,160 square kilometers, with a built-up urban area of 78 square kilometers. It has three towns, 12 subdistricts, and a permanent population of nearly 600,000, with an urbanization rate of 96.7%.
Dongsheng features a well-connected transport network, located about 800 km from Xi'an and Beijing. It has 187.4 km of railway lines, handling 58 million tons of freight and 810,000 passengers annually.
Rich in resources, Dongsheng holds proven reserves of coal, natural gas, and pyrite, with coal reserves totaling 6.2 billion tons and estimated potential of 62.4 billion tons.
At an average altitude of over 1,600 meters, the district enjoys a forest coverage rate of 29.9% and grassland vegetation coverage of 51.8%.
Dongsheng is the first county-level city in Inner Mongolia with over 100,000 active market entities, and ranks 24th among China's top 100 districts in investment potential.
