The Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) committee announced on Wednesday that director John Woo will be the president of this year's jury for the Golden Goblet award, the festival's top prize.

Woo will lead the jury of six other judges, whose names have yet to be announced.

Former jury presidents at the festival include Luc Besson, Danny Boyle, Wong Kar-Wai and Chen Kaige.

Woo gained international fame with the films "Hard Target", "Face/Off", "Mission: Impossible 2" and "Windtalkers". He has attended the festival several times as an honored guest, and was presented with the award for Outstanding Contribution to Chinese Cinema at last year's festival.

Woo will bring the leading cast of his new film, "Reign of Assassins", to the opening ceremony. The cast includes Michelle Yeoh, Jung Woo-Sung, Kelly Lin, Barbie Hsu, Chang Chen and Shawn Yue.

The 13th Shanghai International Film Festival will run from June 12 to 20.
