Chenggong district, a scientific and technological innovation hub in Kunming city, southwest China's Yunnan province, boasts the province's exclusive digital economic development zone featuring big data, cloud computing, blockchain, artificial intelligence, and information services.

Covering 8.65 square kilometers, the Yunnan Digital Economic Development Zone follows a layout of "one zone, two areas, and one town."

The "zone" refers to the Yunnan Digital Economy Development Zone; the "two areas" comprise the Wanxichong Digital Economy Industrial Area and the Great Health Industrial Area; and the "town" is known as the Cloud Town.

Since 2012, Chenggong district has expedited the growth of its digital economy sector, transforming once barren landscapes into the thriving environment conducive to the sustainable growth of the digital economy.

Nearly a thousand companies have taken root in the zone, with the inauguration of the Kunming Artificial Intelligence Computing Center filling the gap in Yunnan's extensive public computing capacity.

Chenggong district also continues to promote cooperation between universities and local entities to accelerate the transformation of scientific and technological achievements. Leveraging the talent and innovation advantages of more than 10 universities, it is creating a government-guided, university-involved, and company-implemented model of industry-education-research collaboration.

Chenggong district is set to prioritize "digital industrialization" and "industrial digitalization," to bolster the foundation of "Digital Yunnan" and the "east data, west computing" project. It aims to establish an international information service center that extends its reach to South and Southeast Asia.
