In the first 10 months of 2024, the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region registered a record foreign trade volume of 4.17 trillion yuan (US$576.36 billion), according to Beijing Customs.

This represented a year-on-year increase of 1.4%, accounting for 11.6% of China's total import and export. The region's export reached 1.14 trillion yuan, and import amounted to 3.03 trillion yuan.

According to an official from Beijing Customs, the foreign trade performance of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region showcased three key trends in the first 10 months: monthly export growth, diversification in agricultural product imports, and strengthened export momentum in emerging industries.

The region's export grew monthly during this period except February, when the Chinese New Year was celebrated. Export reached 114.09 billion yuan in October, growing 6.9% year on year and marking the highest rate for the same period.

Export in emerging industries flourished in the region. From January to October, industries such as information technology, pharmaceuticals and healthcare, and intelligent vehicle manufacturing showed rapid growth. Specifically, exports of automobiles, mobile phones, integrated circuits, and pharmaceuticals from the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region reached 79.11 billion yuan, 61.59 billion yuan, 34.94 billion yuan, and 22.77 billion yuan respectively, marking year-on-year growth rates of 73.2%, 33.4%, 14.4%, and 15.8%. These categories collectively added 5.2 percentage points to the region's overall export growth.

In addition, agricultural import continued to grow in the region, totaling 265.85 billion yuan in the first 10 months of the year, an 8.9% increase. Among these, imports of soybeans, barley, and fresh and dried fruits surged by 48.8%, 144.2%, and 77.7%, respectively.
