South African President Jacob Zuma will market his country and seek to attract investments while at the Jan. 26-30 World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, the South African presidency said on Tuesday.

The South African Press Association (SAPA) reported that South Africa's attendance at WEF takes place just weeks after the invitation of South Africa to join the BRIC countries -- Brazil, Russia, India and China.

During the forum, Zuma will host a meeting with 60 chief executives of international companies to discuss opportunities in South Africa.

"President Zuma will use the attendance of WEF to market the country, especially the drive to create jobs through attracting investments and boosting economic growth," the South African presidency said.

South Africa's Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan said the country' s membership of BRIC increases strategic cooperation among the emerging markets of the South.

It also indicates the change and new voice that is emerging globally, he said. "We are starting the year on a positive footing and look forward to more successes on the international front, which will contribute to our job creation drive."

In May, South Africa will host a follow-up to the Davos meeting, the World Economic Forum on Africa.
