BEIJING, June 21 (Xinhua) -- China's disaster management and strategic reserves authorities said Saturday that a batch of relief supplies had been dispatched to the flood-hit Hunan Province in central China.
These supplies comprised 81,500 items such as tents, folding beds, quilts and mattresses, and will help in effectively relocating affected residents and ensuring their basic living needs, according to the National Disaster Reduction Commission, the Ministry of Emergency Management and the National Food and Strategic Reserves Administration.
Severe flooding has recently struck this province, with the city of Zhangjiajie and the Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture among the areas hit hardest. Notably, a Level-IV emergency response to flooding has been activated.
China has a four-tier emergency response system for flood control, with Level I being the most severe. Enditem
