BEIJING, June 26 (Xinhua) -- The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) on Thursday announced that the 11th annual meeting of its board of governors is set to take place in Doha, Qatar, in September 2026.
The decision was revealed during the 10th annual meeting of the AIIB's board of governors, which was held in Beijing, China, from June 24 to 26.
Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, who is governor of the AIIB and Qatar's minister of finance, will host the 11th annual meeting. A ceremony on Thursday marked the official handover of host country status from China to Qatar.
Jin Liqun, AIIB president and chair of its board of directors, said that hosting the 2026 annual meeting in Qatar will open new avenues for interregional collaboration on sustainable infrastructure, connectivity and innovation.
The AIIB, which began operations in 2016, is a multilateral development bank dedicated to financing "infrastructure for tomorrow," and it has sustainability at its core. The bank now has 110 approved members worldwide. Enditem
