'Scottish dalu mian' on menu after gala program
Adjust font size:

A restaurant in Qingdao, Shandong Province has added "Scottish dalu mian" to its menu, a fictional dish first served up by some comedians on the recent CCTV Spring Festival Gala, Qingdao Evening News reported.

The real dalu mian, or noodles with gravy, is a common staple dish in Northern China. After the CCTV show, a small restaurant changed the name to the one used in the show.

Liu Qun, the owner of the Qingdao eatery admitted that the Scottish dalu mian he serves is no different from the regular noodles he served before, made with mushroom gravy, day lily, black fungus and ham.

He said the name was creative and he just wants customers to have fun dining in his restaurant.
