Most Taiwan People Stay at Home During Spring Festival
Adjust font size:

More than 70 percent of Taiwan people spent their nine-day-long Chinese New Year, or Spring Festival, at home, while some 25 percent chose to travel, according to a local survey.

The latest survey conducted by the Taiwan-based China Times newspaper said 71 percent of the respondents stayed home. Thirty-eight percent said the high cost of travel deterred them from making a trip.

Nineteen percent said they had no time to travel. Fourteen percent shunned traveling for fear of crowds at tourist destinations.

The survey found that 35 percent of Taiwan people in their 30's are the most likely to travel.
