Fire destroys one car of Beijing-Ulan Bator train
Adjust font size:

One car of a train from Beijing to Ulan Bator caught fire on Saturday afternoon but firefighters said that no casualties were reported.

The train was initially mistaken as a train bound for Moscow.

The fire broke out at about 2:44 p.m. in the power car at the K23 train with Mongolian crew shortly after it was passing the Puziwan station in Datong City, Shanxi Province.

The driver immediately halted the train and separated the blazing car from passenger carriages with the help of the Puziwan station staff. The fire, which destroyed the power car, was put out at 5:35 p.m.

The Hohhot Railway Bureau in Inner Mongolia sent a power car to the train, helping it resume travel at 7:55 p.m. The bureau said it offered free food and water to the train's passengers during the delay.

The cause is being investigated.
