2,830 suspects seized in fake invoice crackdown
Adjust font size:

Chinese police have seized 2,830 suspects and confiscated more than 47 million fake invoices in a three-month national campaign against invoice fraud.

These suspects were involved in 1,658 cases and a total of 313 stalls making and selling fake invoices were removed, according to a statement released Monday by the Ministry of Public Security.

Fake invoice vendors are common in Chinese cities, where they offer receipts used for tax purposes.

Vice Minister Liu Jinguo told local bureaux in a teleconference to "give a destructive blow" to gangs creating and trading fake invoices when the campaign started in June.

According to a statement, public security departments across the country strengthened cooperation in investigation, network monitoring and security insurance, uncovering many major cases and putting the situation under control.
