Many medical experts and health workers from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention from various provinces have arrived in quake-hit areas in Sichuan province. They are working hard to prevent possible epidemics.

65 medical experts from Guangxi are working in Sichuan's Jiangyou city

In Mianzhu, volunteers are distributing pamphlets with information on epidemic prevention to people in disaster-hit areas. Besides getting rid off rats, flies and mosquitos, health workers are cutting off polluted water sources and devoting efforts to purify the water. They treat the water twice a day with disinfectants.

65 medical experts from Guangxi are working in Sichuan's Jiangyou city. A former primary school's playground has been turned in to a settlement for the elderly and poor families.

Dong Baiqing from Guangdong Center for Disease Control & Prevention, said, "In this settlement, rubbish lying outside easily breeds flies and mosquitos, causing the spread of epidemics. So we are mainly working on disinfection to prevent the spread of diseases."

With the help of medical workers, local residents are mobilizing to gain more knowledge of health care.

Over twenty towns in Beichuan's remote areas were affected by the earthquake and more armed policemen have been dispatched there.

Health workers from Guizhou's Center for Disease Control and Prevention say it is urgent to educate residents in Pengzhou City to pay attention to the safety of drinking water. They are urging local residents to drink clean water only.
