China's Ministry of Transport says almost 97 percent of the roads in 439 of the worst-hit towns in Sichuan province had been cleared by Monday morning.

Quake lakes formed by landslides that blocked rivers are still hampering efforts to re-open highways in 15 towns. So far, over 250,000 vehicles carrying nearly 3.2 million tons of relief materials have arrived by road in quake-stricken areas.

Nearly 120 million yuan in toll fees have been exempted for these vehicles. And nearly 8 million tons of relief materials have been sent to the quake zone via railway. Meanwhile, 19 special trains have been launched to transport the injured. And over 3,000 seriously injured survivors have been sent to other provinces by plane.
