Ten Cities Hold Anti-Crime Rallies

Public Security Departments in ten big cities yesterday held anti-crime rallies as part of the nationwide campaign to strike hard organized crimes.

At the rallies police officers announced the arrest of a number of criminal offenders. The cities are Beijing, Shenyang, Harbin, Shanghai, Zhengzhou, Wuhan, Guangzhou, Chongqing, Fuzhou and Xi'an.

In Shanghai, China’s manufacturing center, government leaders called on people to take an active part in and support the "strike hard" campaign.

In Zhengzhou, capital of central China's Henan Province, many volunteers put up banners and slogans, such as "Police Join hands with People in Striking Hard Crimes" and "Crack down on Criminals and Protect People". All the people gave strong support to the "strike hard" campaign launched by the Chinese government.

An official of a neighborhood committee in Shanghai said: "Neighborhood committees are in the front of the campaign. We must assist police in casting an escape-proof net against all sorts of criminals."

Police officers noted that they are duty-bound to crack down on crimes and protect people. They vowed to do their utmost to deal a telling blow to gangsters and all kinds of criminal offenders."
