Shipping Giant Eyes China Market
Global shipping giant Moller-Maersk located its north China headquarters in this port city Wednesday, eyeing the vast market in northern China, involving the northeast, north and northwest parts of China.

Allan Jensen, general manager of Maersk (China) Shipping Co (north China region), said the company plans to increase its market share in northern China and is improving its shipping capability with more regular ships and services.

Since last year, the company has set up representative offices in Xi'an, capital of Shanxi province, northwest China; Harbin, capital of Heilongjiang province, northeast China; and Shenyang, capital of Liaoning province, northeast China.

Jensen said the company has based its central China and south China operation centers in Shanghai and Shenzhen, respectively, adding China has become one of the company's leading markets in the world.

The company, also the world's largest container shipping business, opened its first regular shipping service in China in 1928, which was interrupted during the World War II.

The company's business involves ship building, container manufacturing, and offshore oil exploitation.
