National Treasures on Display

The National Museum of Chinese History (NMCH) opened an exhibition Wednesday of its most treasured artifacts, featuring more than 300,000 articles.

The exhibits include bronze, pottery, lacquer ware, jade, gold and silver ornaments, most of which have rarely been seen.

Cultural artifacts experts from the NMCH said that the top exhibits on display are the Simuwu Ding, a four-legged bronze cauldron from the Shang Dynasty (16-11 century BC); portrait bricks from the Southern Dynasties (420-589); porcelain with dim colors from the Tang Dynasty (618-907); and the most delicate art wares from the Ming and Qing dynasties (1368-1911).

Organizers at the museum said they have arranged the exhibits to represent the art of various important dynasties in Chinese history.

Meanwhile, elaborately designed lighting has been employed to create a visual impact for visitors.

The one year exhibition will also be displayed on the web through two websites: www.nmch.gov.cn and www.artron.net.
