2,000-year Old Tomb Found in Northwest China

Chinese archaeologists have found an ancient tomb, which dates back to the Han Dynasty (BC206-220), in Guyuan County of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.

The archaeologists unearthed 30 pieces of historical relics from the tomb, including a rare bronze "money tree," bronze mirror, knife, figurine, pottery articles and coins.

Among the relics, the "money tree" is painted gold and is considered to be one of the rarest finds, with coins hanging on it indicating a ready source of money.

An archaeologist commented that the tomb was for an ancient noble couple in the period, with some extravagant carvings on the tomb.

The tomb and relics will provide valuable clues for archaeological research on the economy, culture and pottery techniques of the Han Dynasty, he added.
