Young People Satisfied with China's Status
The majority of Chinese young people are satisfied with the country's current economic situation and its international image, a survey shows.

A survey by the China Juvenile Research Center showed 91 percent of the youngsters who took part in the survey believed the country's international status had been greatly improved, 25.80 percent more than in 1998.

According to the survey, conducted in major provinces and cities, 97.3 percent of the respondents said China's comprehensive national strength had dramatically improved, an increase of 1.52 percent over 1996.

About 79.90 percent of the respondents believed that China's entry into the WTO would have a positive effect on the nation, with only 3.9 percent saying it would produce a negative effect.
