New Anti-fake Identification Introduced to Fight Piracy

China will introduce brand-new identification on audio and video products as of Feb. 15, using special biological DNA printing ink and other technology to help consumers and inspectors identify authentic goods and fakes, according to the Ministry of Culture.

Other new identification technologies included stealth bar codes and handwritten characters, which were difficult to fake, said a source with the Market Department of the ministry.

The anti-fake identification will replace those introduced in 1996, said the source.

The ministry will also authorize 22 audio and video product producers and publishers to use the anti-fake identification on their products.

The previous anti-fake identification would be banned from Feb.15, 2005, said the source.
