From 1939 to 1941, the China Defense League published English and Chinese editions of its Newsletter, carrying many important articles by Soong Ching Ling. Epstein and New Zealand journalist James Bertram edited the English edition. At the beginning of 1941, the Chinese version was edited by noted Chinese patriot Zou Taofen and Jin Zhonghua, both well-known Chinese journalists.
