Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing talked with US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice over phone Saturday evening, exchanging views on the nuclear issue of the Korean Peninsular.
Rice expressed her concern on the latest development of this issue and hoped the six-party talks could be resumed.
Li reiterated China's stand in supporting the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsular. He said that maintaining the peace and stability of the Korean Peninsular accords with interests of all parties involved.
China will stay in touch with all relevant parties and strive to make the situation develop in a positive direction so that the six-party talks could be resumed as soon as possible, Li said.
Three rounds of the six-party talks, which involved China, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, the United States, the Republic of Korea, Russia and Japan, have been held in Beijing since August 2003, serving as a channel for all concern parties to solve the nuclear issue through dialogue and cooperation.
