China's Ministry of Health on Wednesday announced another human case of bird flu, the 11th to date.

The infected person is a 26-year-old farmer surnamed Lin from Zhangpu County, east China's Fujian Province, according to a report released by the ministry.

She showed symptoms of fever and pneumonia on January 10 and has been hospitalized. She is now in a stable condition.

Lin's samples tested positive for the H5N1 strain of avian flu by both the State Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the Fujian Province CDC.

She has been confirmed to be infected with bird flu in accordance with the standards of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the China's, the ministry said.

No animals in the area where Lin lives, the ministry added.

Those having close contact with Lin have been put under medical observation by local health authorities. So far, no abnormal symptoms have been reported.

The ministry has informed the WHO, and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan authorities of the matter.

To date, seven people in China have died as a result of bird flu.
