Calligraphy of Remote Inscriptions Shown in Nanjing

An exhibition of the calligraphy works of inscriptions on bones and tortoise shells from some 2,000 years ago is being held during the ongoing Sixth China Art Festival in Nanjing.

More than 90 exhibits on display are from Chinese provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions, Hong Kong, Taiwan, as well as France, Japan, Singapore and the Republic of Korea.

One of the most treasured pieces is the original work by well-known calligrapher Dong Zuobin (1895-1963). Dong laid the basis for academic research in this field.

The coastal province of Jiangsu is a traditional researcher of the inscription on bones and tortoise shells. Liu E, who wrote the first academic book, and Luo Zhenyu, who helped unravel the mystery of the ancient characters, were both from Jiangsu.
