DPRK, ROK Delegations to Arrive for Six-Party Talks

The delegations of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) and the Republic of Korea (ROK) will arrive in Beijing successively Tuesday morning, to attend the six-party talks on the nuclear issue of the Korean Peninsula scheduled to open on Feb. 25.

The DPRK delegation is led by the DPRK's deputy foreign minister Kim Kye-gwan, and the ROK delegation is headed by the ROK's deputy minister of foreign affairs and trade Lee Soo-Hyuck.

The delegations of Russia, the United States and Japan have already arrived in Beijing Monday.

The talks will be held at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in central Beijing, which also witnessed the first round of six-party talks last August. The duration of the talks is yet to determine.

Experts hold that the first round of six-party talks has laid a necessary foundation for the second one, and relevant parties have made great efforts for the convening of the second round talks.

The Chinese delegation is led by Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Wang Yi. Besides China, the DPRK and the ROK, the heads of the other three delegations are Director-General of the Asian and Oceanian Affairs Bureau of the Japanese Foreign Ministry Mitoji Yabunaka, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Losiukov, and Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs of the United States James Kelly.
