Half Food Ads Violate Law: Survey

A report from China's State Administration for Industry and Commerce, or the SAIC, says that more than half of the food advertisements from about 700 surveyed during a week in August from about 60 newspapers, violating the law.

The SAIC has banned 3,400 food advertisements in the first 10 months of this year to protect consumer's rights.

China is facing tough challenge in ensuring food safety, particularly because of the rise in products that advertisers claim that they are reliable cures for illnesses.
