CAAC to Accelerate Ddevelopment of Feeder Airlines
Chinese feeder airlines are to get a boost with bigger airports, more flexible pricing systems and easier access to investment, the General Administration of Civil Aviation of China (CAAC) said in Boao Thursday.

Liu Wanming, deputy director of planning for CAAC, told a forum on China's feeder airlines that the development of feeder airlines will focus on China's coastal areas, western regions and central China.

Meanwhile, efforts will be made to enlarge old feeder airports and to build more new ones would be. By the end of 2002,over 10 new feeder airports had been put into operation, and nearly 20 were under construction.

He said CAAC plans to reform mechanism of domestic aviation pricing in the first half of this year, and a flexible pricing system will be introduced to spur the development of feeder airlines.

Liu said the CAAC is active in supporting the research and development of new aircraft, especially for the domestic market. At the same time, aircraft will be imported to meet the urgent demands.
