Chinese Soprano to Hold Charity Concert in HK

Chinese soprano Wang Xia will hold a charity concert in Hong Kong next March.

Wang, who performed in the "Three Tenors" concert in the Forbidden City in 2001, has been involved in charity activities for years, and was recently awarded by the International Disability Foundation for her contributions.

The upcoming concert will raise money for the Global Foundation of Distinguished Chinese, a charity to promote Chinese culture and unify Chinese all over the world.

Wang has said that being a good person goes before being a goodartist, and every artist bears the responsibility to assist charity groups.

Her career as a soloist in Central Opera Theater began in 1998. Now, she is a popular vocalist in China, having played many key roles in a series of operas including performing on the same stage with Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo and Jose Carreras last year at the Forbidden City.

The program for the March concert features selections by Giacomo Puccini.

Chen Xieyang, head of the Central Opera Theater, will conduct the concert.
