Grammy Winner Got criticized in France

Tan Dun, the Grammy winner for his composition in the movie Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, received cold shoulders in his Paris music show, the eastday.com reported today.

French critics cited his music concerto for the movie as queer, strange and laborious. During Tan's performance, the concert organizer also screened some pictures to shovel away the boredness because the piece was too long and it only fit for the movie. However, the picture show encountered severe criticism as well. It was cited as too irrelevant to the music.

On straight contrast, another Chinese artist, Chen Qigang received warm acclamation at the concert. His concerto of "Feng Lian Hua" performed by six Chinese women artists and conducted by Muhai Tang, was cited as especially successful among the faultfinding French audience.

Muhai Tang was also this year's Grammy winner. He conducted for Rouse's winning concerto. The "Concerto de Gaudi" won the "Best Classical Contemporary Composition" award.
