Less Concern for GDP than Life Improvement: Paper

The public in China shows less of a concern for the country's GDP growth than whether it will bring benefits to the life of ordinary people, according to the Chinese Economic Weekly.

With the fastest speed of economic development in the world, the growth of China's economy has drawn sustaining attention from various circles. However, ordinary people in China have begun turning their attention to the practical improvement of their lives from GDP growth.

The paper reports most people consider the economic growth figures unreliable because of exaggerated data from some state-owned enterprises and local officials.

China's large population is another crucial reason why the effects of growth might not be as keenly felt by the public.
