Vegetable, Meat Markets Resume Business after May Day Holiday
Statistics show that more than 70 percent of meat and vegetable stalls in the capital city of Beijing have resumed active business following the May Day holiday.

The prices of rice, wheat flour, foodstuffs, cooking oil, salt, dairy products, vegetables, meat, eggs, toilet paper, laundry detergent and liquid disinfectant remained stable, according to the outcome of Wednesday's price survey conducted in 40 markets and supermarkets.

At the same time, 20 stores and supermarkets have reported their supply of disinfectant and protection articles (gloves, gauze masks) falls short of demand, whereas 15 other stores reported that their clients mainly buy disinfectants and related goods.

There were still an ample supply of SARS medicines, and their prices are stable.

The municipal administration for industry and commerce took 53 fresh vegetable samples and 35 fresh meat samples from 31 markets on Wednesday. And only Two of the 35 meat samples were not up to the required standards.
