Date: 2008-2-6~2008-2-10
Time: 0:00
Tickets: 80 yuan
Tel: 63865700

Venue: Shanghai Chenghuang Temple
Address: No.115, Yuyuan Rd., Huangpu District /豫園路115號

Tickets: 80 yuan to enter the temple (another 100 yuan to chime the bell) According to Buddhist customs burning joss sticks or chiming a temple bell at the beginning of a year will bring luck and peace for the rest of the year. Though Longhua is Shanghai's largest and most active Buddhist temple, Chenghuang Temple is much more conveniently located at the heart of the Old City. Here bell chiming is held on new year's eve February 6th, and also February 10, or the fifth day of the Lunar New Year which is believed to be a date for the coming of the god of wealth.
