Shanghai Property
Dear China Internet Information Center:

First of all, it feels go good and great to hear that Beijing, China will be the host of the 2008 Olympic Games. All people of Chinese origins should be very proud and happy to be a Chinese. I am looking forward to be in Beijing, China in the Olympics in the year of 2008.

I am an overseas Chinese living in U.S.A. for over forty years now. Recently I found out the childhood home that I lived in Shanghai over forty years ago is still in our father's name who passed away a while back and recently our mother has passed away also. Me and my other two brothers are the persons left who have the right of renting and living in the house in Shanghai, but we cannot sell the home. Please respond me by e-mail as to

what we should and can do to revert and transfer the property right from our dead father to us three brothers. What is the real estate property law Shanghai regarding the transfer of ownership of a property.

Thank you very much for your attention,

Wilson Hu

Dear Wilson Hu:

We recommend two Shanghai websites; both are in Chinese:

http://www.real-estate.sh.cn/政策法规d.files/政策法规p.htm contains almost all Real Estate law information in Shanghai

http://www.stc.sh.cn/gov/fwgl.htm Shanghai Real Estate Administration, an introduction to its service and contacts

If we can be of further help, please let us know.

Best wishes!

The editors
