Over 20% of Beijing Students Suffer Depression
Adjust font size:

The Beijing Municipal committee of the Communist Youth League of China and the Beijing Students Federation jointly released a "Report on Beijing College Students Development" on December 11. The report indicates nearly 23.66% of the city's undergraduates have fallen victim to depression (statistics up to last September).

Academic pressure, psychological instability, unharmonious interpersonal relationships, emotional difficulties, insufficient sex education and weak psychological bearing capacity can be held responsible for the high incidence of depression among them.

Job hunting was another significant source of stress. Statistics reveal that 35% of the pressures undergraduates find themselves exposed to came from seeking employment and study.

Today's undergraduates are more absorbed in themselves than social responsibility fulfillment. Only 3.04% of them would sacrifice their own interests to meet the needs of the country.
