New Zealand Welcomes Chinese Wool Quota Regulations for 2002
New Zealand Trade Negotiations Minister Jim Sutton issued a statement Monday in Wellinton, welcoming China's publication of the tariff quota regulations for wool imports in 2002.

The regulations allow imports of 337,000 tons of wool and wool tops into China this year, a 5 percent increase on last year's quota allocation, he said in the statement.

"China is New Zealand's most important market for wool with our exports to China topping 166 million New Zealand dollars 70 million U.S. dollars) for the year from July 2000 to June 2001," Sutton said.

The New Zealand minister will lead a trade delegation to China next month and plans to discuss the new wool regulations with Chinese officials.
