China Publishes Photo Album for Tibet Aid Cadres

The first photograph collection of China's Tibet aid cadres was published on Wednesday.

"Every picture in the album invokes a beautiful memory," said Qi Xianyi, deputy director of China Central Television's art department. Qi worked in Lhasa from 1998 to 2001.

Since 1995, central government departments and 15 provinces and municipalities have sent cadres to work in Tibet.

Those cadres, during their three-year stay in Tibet, would bring modern management, expertise and technologies to the plateau, as well as attract investment.

The second batch of cadres including Qi was more than 600 people, three of whom died in Tibet. Qi said the camera he was using belonged to one of the dead.

Qi said life there was unforgettable. Once they got lost on a plateau on the dark night, but a Tibetan family rescued them by swinging lamps. The family even invited them to tea.

Qi said, "Tibet often comes back in my dreams."
