China to Ensure Safety of Labor Day Holiday

To ensure a safe Labor Day holiday authorities are making public safety checks in scenic spots, according to the China National Tourism Administration (CNTA).

Many local tourism bureaus will inspect public transport vehicles such as buses, ferries and cable cars as well as recreational facilities like bungy jumping, shooting and canoeing.

"Tourist numbers will boom during the upcoming Labor Day holiday. So safety is the most important issue for everyone," said Zhang Xiqin, vice director of CNTA.

An urgent program will be launched in key tourism cities and scenic spots before the holiday. CNTA vows to record a safe and orderly holiday week by providing tourism forecasts in 31 cities

and 20 scenic spots. The forecast will provide detailed and up-to-date information for the public.

Through the combined efforts of the ministries of railways and communication and the General Administration of Civil Aviation of China (CAAC), more passengers will be carried during the seven day holiday. One hundred and thirty-eight special trains will be added from April 28 to May 7.
