Yanshou Dagoba at Tanzhe Temple in Beijing
To the east of Pilu Pavilion inside Tanzhe Temple on Beijing's Western Hills there is a dagoba called Yanshou that is also a tomb. It is said to have been built by the Duke of Yuejing, called Yanyong, during the Ming Dynasty. The Lamaist dagoba is more than fifteen meters tall and sits on a square Sumeru pedestal. The inverted-bowl-shaped dagoba is ornamented with thirteen layers of discs on the steeple and a gilded bronze canopy, a crescent moon and a precious bead on top. Looking sturdy and elegant, it is regarded as one of the most important Lamaist dagobas from the Ming Dynasty.
