The annual sessions of the National People's Congress (NPC), China's top legislatures, and the Chinese People?s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the top advisory body, are drawing high attention from the general public, a survey shows.
The survey conducted by the China Social Survey Office shows 100 percent of the people surveyed are aware of the ongoing sessions and 98 percent of them say they are concerned about the sessions.
The issues that catch public attention are: maintaining sustained, steady and healthy economic development, expanding domestic demand, meeting the challenges brought about by China's entry into the World Trade Organization, the reunification of the motherland, the countryside agriculture, anti-corruption and environmental protection.
TV is the most important source of information on the NPC and CPPCC sessions, followed by newspaper, the Internet and radio.
"The poll shows the masses of the people are paying more attention to state affairs and pinning higher hopes on the legislature," said legislator Wang Liangren.
"The more the NPC mirrors the will of the people, the greater vitality it will acquire," said another legislator Lei Xinquan.
