The Belt and Road Initiative

The Belt and Road Initiative – China's proposal to cooperate with other countries in building a Silk Road Economic Belt and a 21st Century Maritime Silk Road – was unveiled by President Xi Jinping during his visits to Central and Southeast Asia in September and October 2013. It was a strategic decision taken by the central leadership as part of a new process of further opening up to the outside world. 

The initiative focuses on policy coordination, connectivity of infrastructure and facilities, unimpeded trade, financial integration, and strengthened people-to-people ties through a consultative process and joint efforts, with the goal of bringing benefits to all. It aims to build a community of shared interests and responsibility with a shared future. The Belt and Road will be a path to peace, prosperity and openness through innovative programs and friendly engagement.  

Over the past four years, more than 100 countries and international organizations have expressed support for the initiative and participated in related activities. The UN General Assembly and Security Council have also made reference to the initiative in some of their resolutions. The vision of the Belt and Road is gradually being translated into action, and success stories have begun to emerge. 

“一帶一路”

“一帶一路”是“絲綢之路經(jīng)濟(jì)帶”和“21世紀(jì)海上絲綢之路”的簡(jiǎn)稱(chēng)。2013年9月和10月，中國(guó)國(guó)家主席習(xí)近平出訪中亞和東南亞時(shí)，分別提出了與相關(guān)國(guó)家共同建設(shè)“絲綢之路經(jīng)濟(jì)帶”和“21世紀(jì)海上絲綢之路”的倡議。建設(shè)“一帶一路”，是黨中央作出的重大戰(zhàn)略決策，是實(shí)施新一輪擴(kuò)大開(kāi)放的重要舉措。該倡議以實(shí)現(xiàn)“政策溝通、設(shè)施聯(lián)通、貿(mào)易暢通、資金融通、民心相通”為主要內(nèi)容，以“共商、共建、共享”為原則，以“利益共同體、責(zé)任共同體、命運(yùn)共同體”為目標(biāo)。要將“一帶一路”建成和平之路、繁榮之路、開(kāi)放之路、創(chuàng)新之路、文明之路?！耙粠б宦贰苯ㄔO(shè)符合有關(guān)各方共同利益，順應(yīng)地區(qū)和全球合作潮流，得到了沿線國(guó)家的積極響應(yīng)。4年來(lái)，全球100多個(gè)國(guó)家和國(guó)際組織積極支持和參與“一帶一路”建設(shè)，聯(lián)合國(guó)大會(huì)、聯(lián)合國(guó)安理會(huì)等重要決議也納入“一帶一路”建設(shè)內(nèi)容?！耙粠б宦贰苯ㄔO(shè)逐漸從理念轉(zhuǎn)化為行動(dòng)，從愿景轉(zhuǎn)變?yōu)楝F(xiàn)實(shí)，建設(shè)成果豐碩。
