Cross-shaped High-speed Rail Network in Southwest China

Guizhou was not easily accessible in history, which made its communication with the outside world rather difficult. As what Guo Zizhang, Governor of Guizhou in the late Ming Dynasty, said about the place, Guizhou had the most precipitous mountains and most dangerous rivers. Today, however, Guizhou has a multimodal transportation system that offers air, land and water transportation services. In 2014, high-speed rail service was launched in Guizhou, marking the beginning of the province's high-speed rail era.

Now the Shanghai-Kunming, Guiyang-Guangzhou, Chengdu-Guiyang, and Chongqing-Guiyang high-speed railways all converge in Guiyang, capital city of Guizhou Province. The length of high-speed railways in service totals 1,527 kilometers in the province. The Guiyang-Nanning High-speed Railway is now under construction and is expected to be put into operation in 2023. The cross-shaped high-speed rail network centered in Guiyang fuels the province's economic development and plays an important position in the country.

西南高鐵“大十字”

歷史上,貴州交通極不便利,和外界溝通交流困難。明末時(shí)期,貴州巡撫郭子章曾感慨:天下山川之險(xiǎn),貴州為最。今天的貴州已經(jīng)形成水陸空立體交通體系。2014年,貴廣高鐵開通,標(biāo)志著貴州邁入“高鐵時(shí)代”。

目前,滬昆高鐵(上海-昆明)、貴廣高鐵(貴陽-廣州)、成貴高鐵(成都-貴陽)、渝貴快鐵(重慶-貴陽)均在貴州省會(huì)貴陽市交會(huì),貴州境內(nèi)高速鐵路通車?yán)锍?527千米。貴南高鐵(貴陽-南寧)正在建設(shè)中,預(yù)計(jì)2023年開通。以貴陽為中心的高鐵“大十字”,使貴州因此而成為中國舉足輕重的快速經(jīng)濟(jì)通道。
