Regeneration of Ecosystems

Since the 1980s, China has adopted a number of policies for the regeneration of key ecosystems, such as protecting natural forests, turning marginal farmlands into forests and returning grazing lands to grasslands. 

In his report to the CPC's 19th National Congress, Xi Jinping emphasized the need to prioritize environmental protection, let nature restore itself, and intensify protection of ecosystems. He demanded a greater effort to strictly protect farmlands, expand trials in crop rotation and keeping land fallow, and improve the systems for regeneration of croplands, grasslands, forests, rivers and lakes. At the National Conference on Eco-environmental Protection held in May 2018, he again called for time and space for nature to recuperate.

Regeneration of ecosystems is needed for sustainable development. It will also contribute to an eco-civilization and harmony between humanity and nature.

生態(tài)系統(tǒng)休養(yǎng)生息

改革開放以來(lái)，中國(guó)大力推行保護(hù)天然林、退耕還林、退牧還草等生態(tài)保護(hù)措施，對(duì)重要生態(tài)系統(tǒng)實(shí)施休養(yǎng)生息。中共十九大提出堅(jiān)持保護(hù)優(yōu)先、自然恢復(fù)為主方針，加大生態(tài)系統(tǒng)保護(hù)力度，嚴(yán)格保護(hù)耕地，擴(kuò)大輪作休耕試點(diǎn)，健全耕地草原森林河流湖泊休養(yǎng)生息制度。2018年5月，習(xí)近平在全國(guó)生態(tài)環(huán)境保護(hù)大會(huì)上強(qiáng)調(diào)，要給自然生態(tài)留下休養(yǎng)生息的時(shí)間和空間。

推進(jìn)生態(tài)系統(tǒng)休養(yǎng)生息，是實(shí)現(xiàn)可持續(xù)發(fā)展的必然要求，是生態(tài)文明建設(shè)的新思路，體現(xiàn)了人與自然和諧共生的新追求。
