The Green Silk Road

China has pursued green development and advocated building a green Silk Road. Building a green Silk Road was an idea proposed by Xi Jinping in a speech made in Uzbekistan in June 2016.

In May 2017, China published two documents on promoting green development and cooperation on ecological protection among the Belt and Road countries. In a videoconference with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in September 2020, President Xi said that development must be sustainable and humanity must manage the relationship with nature wisely. China will continue with its own eco-environmental conservation, honor its obligations with regard to addressing climate change and protecting the earth, and work with other countries to build a green Silk Road.

In June 2021, China and 28 other countries launched the Initiative for Belt and Road Partnership on Green Development, calling on all countries to join forces to promote green, low-carbon and sustainable development.

Building a green Silk Road is China's proposal for solving the global issue of sustainable development. This green vision informed by the philosophy of eco-civilization helps strengthen eco-environmental cooperation among the Belt and Road countries, and supports the search for effective models of eco-protection, rational utilization of the ecosystem, and environmental governance.

綠色絲綢之路

中國堅持把綠色作為底色，攜手各方打造綠色絲綢之路。2016年6月，習近平在烏茲別克斯坦發(fā)表演講時提出，攜手打造“綠色絲綢之路”。2017年5月，中國發(fā)布《關于推進綠色“一帶一路”建設的指導意見》《“一帶一路”生態(tài)環(huán)境保護合作規(guī)劃》，推動落實共建“一帶一路”的綠色責任和綠色標準。2020年9月，習近平以視頻方式會見聯(lián)合國秘書長古特雷斯時強調，發(fā)展必須是可持續(xù)的，需要處理好人與自然的關系。中國既加強自身生態(tài)文明建設，也主動承擔應對氣候變化的國際責任，努力呵護好人類共同的地球家園，積極同各國一道打造“綠色絲綢之路”。2021年6月，中國同28個國家共同發(fā)起“一帶一路”綠色發(fā)展伙伴關系倡議，倡導各國齊心協(xié)力，共同促進綠色、低碳、可持續(xù)發(fā)展。

“綠色絲綢之路”是解決全球可持續(xù)發(fā)展問題的中國方案，是以生態(tài)文明理念促進“一帶一路”沿線國家生態(tài)環(huán)境保護合作的綠色愿景。建設“綠色絲綢之路”旨在促進實現(xiàn)全球可持續(xù)發(fā)展目標，探索生態(tài)保護與合理利用的優(yōu)化模式，為世界各國攜手探索環(huán)境治理模式提供重要借鑒。
