Budget Hotel Opened for New Job Hunters
Adjust font size:

A hostel targeting job-hunting graduates from other Chinese cities opened recently in Beijing.

By providing their graduation certificate or student card along with identity card, college graduates can pay only 20 yuan (US$2.50) per night for access to a clean room, hot water, TV, air conditioning and the Internet.

The hostel has a billboard where updated information on job fairs are shown.

The manager said the hostel is in great demand because it provides great convenience for those who come to Beijing but stay unemployed for months. It is also a platform for new graduates to exchange tips on getting interviews and writing resumes.

Big cities like Beijing and Shanghai are widely considered in China to have the most job opportunities. Statistics show nearly 750,000 graduates headed for Beijing and Shanghai last year looking for jobs.

The number of Chinese college graduates in 2007 will be close to five million.
