Musicacoustica 2006, the biggest electronic music event in Asia, kicked off yesterday morning at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing.

Over 300 people attended the opening ceremony, including universities professors, experts from the Chinese Musicians Association and distinguished international guests.

The Central Conservatory of Music and Communication University of China will host a series of activities exploring the evolution of electronic music in the last 50 years in the coming week.

Active electronic and computer musicians from over 30 countries and regions are expected to show up, including big names like Curtis Roads, James Giroudon, and Yann Geslin. The event's theme is "language."

Seven lectures will be held, as well as fifteen concerts showcasing electronica from more than thirty countries and regions.
