Around 1.2 million people have been affected by the rainstorm, which also left 29 people injured.

Heyuan, Shaoguan, Meizhou, Shanwei and Qingyuan were worst-hit areas.

The rainstorm has caused an economic loss of 266 million yuan (US$35 million) in Guangdong.
