Wuhan to Ban Gov't Transport on 'No Car Day'
Adjust font size:

Wuhan, capital of central China's Hubei Province, had banned the use of government cars as a substitute transport on the planned September 22 "no car day".

According to the pioneering rule, government officials at all levels and public servants are supposed to take buses, ride bicycles or simply walk to the office on that day as all government car services will be suspended.

The city has also set aside the week of September 16 to 22 as a "week of public transportation", to encourage citizens to take public buses.

Wuhan is one of 108 cities that will take part in the nationwide "no car day" campaign, which aims to cut down on pollution and save energy.
