The incident occurred at 8 PM, when Zhang, an employee of China Netcom, was repairing a telephone in a room beside the tiger's cage along with a colleague surnamed Lin. The room was built beside the two-meter fence and the window is only a little higher than the fence, the report said. "I heard his cry and rushed into the room, where I saw the tiger standing behind him, with its paws pressing on his shoulders and biting the right side of his face," Lin said. "I attacked the tiger with a 10-centimeter-long knife, which allowed Zhang to run out of the room. I locked the door immediately to follow him," Lin said.
