Adjust font size:

The death toll rose to at least 35 when two car bombs rocked Iraq's northern town of Tal Afar on Tuesday, injuring some 50 others, a police source from nearby Mosul told Xinhua.

Earlier sources said that 15 people were killed and more than 30 others wounded in town of Tal Afar, some 70 km west of Mosul.

The attacks occurred about 16:00 PM (13:00 GMT) at popular markets in the northern and central parts of the town, the source said on condition of anonymity.

"At least 35 people are killed and 50 others wounded in the two simultaneous car bombings," the source said.

On Saturday, a suicide bomber blew himself up in a popular market in Tal Afar, killing at least ten people and wounding three others.

Mosul, capital of Ninawa province, is located 400 km north of Baghdad.
