Top Chinese Trade Union Leader Meets Japanese Guests
Strong Legal Basis Laid: Wei

Wei Jianxing, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, was speaking at a meeting with a delegation from the Japan China Skilled-Workers Exchange Center (JCSWEC), led by its president Makieda Motofumi.

While briefing the guests on the last fortnight's meetings of the Ninth National People's Congress (NPC) and the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Wei said the revised Trade Union Law enacted by the Ninth NPC Standing Committee laid a strong legal basis for the work of trade unions.

ACFTU to Adapt to New Employment Laws

On the one hand, the ACFTU would adapt to new employment laws while helping workers in difficulties and protecting and encouraging the enthusiasm and creativity of workers, he stressed.

Sino-Japanese Ties See Good Trend

Wei said this year marked the 30th anniversary of the normalization of Sino-Japanese diplomatic ties and he hoped to increase friendly exchanges between workers and trade unions of the two countries, thus promoting the development of friendly ties.

Motofumi, on his part, spoke highly of the achievements made by China in its reform, opening and modernization drives, saying the JCSWEC would continue substantial exchanges between workers of the two countries and strenuously promote friendship between the Japanese and Chinese peoples.

The guests are here at the invitation of the ACFTU.
